Aidan's Adaptive Bike

Hi Friend!

Meet Aidan, our 9 year old son. Aidan was born extremely prematurely and has had Cerebral Palsey since birth. This affects many things, including his ability to speak, and to walk.

He currently lives in San Mateo where he attends public school and loves the outdoors:

Biking is one of the best ways for Aidan to get around. It helps him to develop his legs, and socialize with other kids.  Biking (using a Tri or Quad cycle) is safer than walking for Aidan because he falls a lot when walking and as he gets older, falling does more damage.

When he was younger, Aidan was able to use an adapted bike sometimes through his physical therapists, but we never had one at home for him to use because we knew he would grow out of it soon. Now that Aidan is old enough to have an adaptive bike that lasts for a long time, we would like him to have one he can use every day.

Unfortunately medical insurance doesn't cover purchases like this, even though keeping healthy will reduce Aidan's long term care costs by potentially avoiding surgeries and injuries.

We need about $5,000 to purchase a dual bike such as a Freedom Concepts ET2611 , which would allow one of Aidan's parents to travel with him at all times. If there's anything left after purchasing a bike it will be put towards a wheelchair or Aidan's long term care.

We hope you can help Aidan get around!

Thank you!
