Aid2Ukraine - supporting displaced families
Aid2Ukraine
In May, our Aid2Ukraine team completed another deeply moving and vital trip to Odesa in Ukraine — our fourth ambulance delivery. Alongside the ambulance, we also took out a van and a minibus — all fully loaded with life-saving medical aid, and humanitarian supplies for families in desperate need.
As always, the vehicles were handed over to our trusted partner charity, Orchid, in Ukraine. They will now serve frontline hospitals and provide transport and support for displaced families fleeing the horrors of war.
The gratitude we received on arrival is humbling and heartfelt. We always make time to sit with those we’re helping - to listen, to witness, and to show them they are not forgotten. We’ve heard some incredibly sad stories and saw first-hand the harrowing conditions these people are enduring.
Many displaced families have been living in makeshift missions since 2022 — dormitories with 40 people sharing one shower and two toilets. There’s no privacy, no personal space, just survival. And the hospitals — some reopened 19th-century buildings — are housing vulnerable people, including those with mental health conditions, with crumbling infrastructure and little to no medical equipment.
It’s a harsh reality that never gets easier to witness. But thanks to the continued support of friends, family and the public, we are making a difference. Knowing that people across the world care about them truly lifts the spirits of the Ukrainian people.
We’re now preparing for our next trip and have set up this funding page to support the purchase of a vehicle for this. Every donation, every shared post, every word of support matters.
We are based in the East Cornwall, West Devon and Plymouth area and Looe Lions kindly provide us with charitable status and audited accounting. As such, all donations can benefit from Gift Aid.
For more information, our website is www.aid2ukraine.org and there is an Aid2Ukraine Facebook page.
If you are able to make a donation, thank you.
