**Update** Wyatt is currently at home now and is being monitored for his weight in order to have the two remaining surgeries needed. He had his life saving surgery at 6 days old and recovered well from that. I am currently tending to his ostomy and caring for him at home but we still have a long road ahead. After meeting with his surgery team on December 19th it was decided we will have to wait until February 21, 2025 before determining if we can schedule his next surgery. During this time, I will be unable to work and will need help with medical bills, living expenses, etc. since my husband, Devyn, will be the only one able to work reducing our income by half. We are so very appreciative of all the prayers and donations. If you can take the time to share this and donate if it is in your heart to do so. Thank you so much from the Spillman's!
On October 24, 2024, our beautiful baby boy, Wyatt Lynn, was born and was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, the hospital quickly realized that something was not quite right and after 6 days of testing and scans, Wyatt was air lifted to New Orleans Children's Hospital. They rushed him into surgery to repair a hole in his small intestine and discovered he has Hirschsprung's Disease, which will require an ostomy bag and corrective surgery. Hirschsprungs Disease affects the intestines and can be life threatening. It causes the bowels to remain constricted which doesn't allow stool to pass through and that is why Wyatt ended up with a tear that then spilled stool and gas into his abdomen. The first surgery he had was exploratory and to repair the hole and clean everything so that he didn't go septic. They are still testing to see how severe it is, but he will have a minimum of three total surgeries. During all of this, baby Wyatt and his family will have to stay at the hospital for 2-4 weeks and then again for an unknown amount of time for the other surgery to follow. We will need the support and prayers from our community during this time to get the best possible care and be able to stay with him. If you are able to help, please consider donating.
