Aid Woody's Healing: A Godley Friend in Need
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Matt Wilkin and I have worked for Godley ISD for the past 16 years. I met Woody a few years ago while dropping off my daughter at Godley Middle School, he was unloading his wheelchair from the back of his truck with a manual hydraulic lift. I stopped and offered to help. He never asked for my help; but he was gracious enough to accept. Our friendship was formed in that brief moment. Since then, a group of us have made it a point to help Woody load and unload his wheelchair.
In 1985, Woody had a bad motorcycle wreck that forever altered the course of his life. His heart required an aortic patch, and his back and legs were permanently damaged. For 40 years, Woody has dealt with his injury with perseverance and a smile. For the past three years, he has inspired myself and others with that same persistence and determination. I have never heard Woody complain about his situation. Instead, he shares stories of gratitude, the blessings he has received, and good fortune that has brought community into his life.
His injuries have advanced to a point where he will require another surgery on his lower spine to relieve the intense pain he is currently in. He will be in recovery for four months and will not be able to work during this period. I am starting this GoFundMe on his behalf to help with his medical costs and lost income. Please help me show Woody our appreciation for his service to us and the children of Godley ISD.
