Aid T-Roy in Overcoming Homelessness

Hi, my name is Troy (T-Roy) Felder and I need your help. I’m 61 years old and have been technically homeless since Hurricane Ida put a tree on the RV where I lived on my property (3 years).

I was in a FEMA camp for a while until they discontinued that program, and now I live in the dilapidated house on my property that the parish plans to demolish “whether or not I’m still living in it” (their words).

RESTORE LOUISIANA has awarded me a new mobile home, THANK GOD, so the house must come down anyway, but I can’t afford it and here’s my dilemma.

1. It would be thousands of dollars cheaper if I demolished the house myself as opposed to the parish (12,000 - 15,000 cheaper).

2. I can’t demolish the house if I’m still living in it.

The house has served as a very shabby storage space for EVERYTHING that I own. The roof is pretty opened up, there are some open walls, and rain is a big problem, but it’s all I have.

(3 rooms of furniture, my clothes, musical instruments, electronics, all sorts of tools accumulated over the years, etc.)

My whole life.

I am not accustomed to asking for help after a lifetime of taking care of myself, but I recalled a memory from my childhood that one of my teachers told me that I never forgot.

“Closed mouths don’t get fed.”

I need your help to move out of this house and to demolish this house so that I can move my new trailer onto the property and begin anew without the crippling financial debt of state property liens.
