My name is Trey Janes, and I recently suffered a Tibial Plateau Fracture which is going to keep me from working or being able to make a living for a minimum of 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, I will be able to start putting weight on. However, I am an exterminator by trade and my entire day consists of walking up and down stairs, on uneven or rough terrain, crawling in attics and under houses, and general labor duties usually with a 4-gallon tank on my back. It is going to be a very long time before I'm functional again, and prior to this accident, my wife and I had already been having a tough time financially. She was a dog groomer at PetSmart and, almost two years ago, she was attacked by a customer and subsequently lost her job for defending herself. The customer who attacked her ended up suing her for $50,000, and this set off a year or so of back and forth with the courts and a lot of stress due to judgments and appeals and general unfamiliarity with the legal system.
That has since resolved itself, and as of this new year, after two years of working hard and trying to get back on our feet, we were on track to finally get our heads above water. That all changed this past Friday, January 2nd, when I slipped in our kitchen and broke my leg. Now we are looking at more uncertainty and stress as I had previously exhausted all our financial options to get us through the past two years.
I am the last one to ever want to ask for help, and I do not feel great about putting this up. However, I have to recognize how serious my situation is. Without help, my wife, myself, and our rescue animals will likely be homeless within a month and will be unable to pay for our cars. I am currently exploring my options for work to do from home, as I am good with technology and computers, but not having much of a background professionally in that field, I do not exactly stand out amongst other candidates for that type of work.
If anyone can help us, I would be eternally grateful. Even sharing our story would help, and I would be just as grateful for the share as I would for a donation. I am going in for my second surgery tomorrow, Jan 7th at 8:30 am and hopefully will finally be home on Thursday morning. I will post updates if requested. Again, thank you for reading.
