Aid to child victims of the Sri Lanka bombings

On April 21, 2019, Easter Sunday, the small yet robust country of Sri Lanka was shaken to its core when suicide bombers hit six churches and hotels in Colombo and in other major cities. Hundreds were killed, and even more were wounded in this tragic event. Families lost beloved members, and children lost mothers, fathers, and relatives to whom they once looked for love and for guidance.

Every single one of these children, who have each lost so much, have promising futures ahead of them. They have overcome much hardship, and are in desperate need of aid to recover from such a horrific tragedy. These children must be given the opportunity to continue their education, and must receive the assistance necessary to cope with the emotional and psychological effects of the event.

Sri Lanka and its many neighbors around the world must come together to bring these children the assistance that they need in this difficult time.

The Easter Sunday Relief Group is a student-founded group of students, teachers, parents, and community members who wish to extend a hand to those who have been impacted by the Easter Sunday attacks. We aim to assist the affected children and families in rebuilding and healing their communities, and, in order to do so, raise $10,000 to contribute to this cause.

The funds collected will accordingly be donated to the relief efforts of the Archdiocese of of Colombo, which aims to support the victims in affected areas. The funds will be directed towards supporting children who have lost parents or the breadwinner(s) of their families, counseling and mental health support for victims, and supporting impacted communities.

Every donation helps, and we thank you for your support! Be sure to tell your friends and family, and share this on social media. If you would like to support the cause in any other way, please reach out to us on Instagram.

The individual who will withdraw the funds is Chandima Senaratne, who is my mother and who is responsible for wiring the money to the Hatton National Bank account to which the Archbishop of Colombo has specifically requested that donations be sent. As members of the Archdiocese of Colombo do not have GoFundMe accounts, I cannot wire the money directly through GoFundMe.
