Aid Tin, Joy, and the Truong family in Overcoming Fire Loss
Donation protected
On August 7th, 2024, our close friends Tin Truong and Joy Idanan got a call that nobody ever expected to receive. While Tin was at work and Joy was at school, they were notified that Tin’s family’s house was on fire.
Tin urgently rushed back home, but it was already too late. The fire started near his bedroom while his brother and father were at home. They were alerted by the smoke and immediately assumed it was an electrical fire. They ran to shut off the power to the house, but to no avail, the room was already ablaze. His brother and father quickly evacuated and called 911. The fire quickly spread to the garage and eventually destroyed everything on the whole right side of the house where the bedrooms were.
Fortunately, nobody was injured and SJFD was able to extinguish the fire before the rest of the house burnt down. Unfortunately, with the smoke and fire damage and the water used to extinguish it, everyone’s belongings were affected. The loss of their personal and irreplaceable possessions is overwhelming and immeasurable. Though, SJFD was able to recover some photo albums and clothes.
“I lost everything, but at least I still have my Tom Segura T-Shirt.” (as seen in the photo)
The Truong family’s loss is undeniably heart breaking. They spent the remaining hours of this evening salvaging anything they could manage to dig out of the rubble and fit into their cars. The room that Tin and Joy shared was completely destroyed and little to nothing salvageable since the fire originated in their bedroom. Their wardrobe, personal belongings, important documents, irreplaceable memorabilia/gifts from loved ones collected over the years all condensed down to no more than a heap of debris.
There is no question that these people would have stepped up for us had we been in this same situation, and it is our responsibility to do the same right now. Please donate to this fundraiser and share it to reach a wider audience. Your support will cover the family’s emergency needs such as clothing, food, hotel expenses, temporary housing, and other supplies needed to cope with this unfortunate loss. This is more than giving money, it is about contributing to a family’s new chapter in life. Anything helps.
If you want to support them directly, please reach out! Thank you!
