Hello, my name is Tifany Grant. I started my transition from male to female in the year 2016. I sought and received the mental and physical assistance to make the need to do so happen. I was 6 when I started to think of myself as a girl. It was having a child with my wife of 17 years at that point that was the catalyst for me to stand up for myself once again. As a parent, I wasn't going to live my life in a position to put others needs before my own any longer.
It was the decision to seek a divorce because of the negative and harmful rhetoric that was being thrown on the transgender community that ended our marriage after 23 years. She and I still have a compassionate and understanding relationship as we both have our time with our child as designed through the agreement we both worked out to finalize our divorce through mediation.
With the newness of my identity being tested in many ways as it had never been tested before, all I wanted was a place of my own. Which I do have and while the work I am doing is no longer satisfying my commitments I have made to the places and people that have assisted me to be able to ask, which isn't easy for me, to allow myself to be recognized on a broader scale.
My parents have assisted me to keep myself financially going. They can no longer continue to help me out. They are older and wiser, yet had no information to help me with my identity and gender decisions as a child. It was the work I had to do for myself and with a humble heart and open mind, I have made it to this point.
Dear reader, whatever you are able to offer to help me out is greatly appreciated. I was attempting to start a non-profit before Covid occurred. In writing this, I remind myself of all the messages I received from others in trying to start that during a personal yet determined stage of my life.
At this point, I am asking for help to keep myself in my apartment and bills paid before they are past due.
Thank you.
