Aid Theresa in Her Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Theresa and I’m 49 years old. I’ve been married for nearly 23 years and I have an 18-year-old daughter who is a senior this year. Back in August, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. It came as a horrible surprise to me and my family.
My goal was to keep working full-time as a mail carrier for the USPS, but as the days wear on, my strength is weakening along with my mind, and my illness is getting worse. I get radiation done daily before work, and then once a week for 6-8 hours, I’m in chemo. I’ve never asked for help and I feel horrible to do so, but unfortunately, I honestly don’t know if I can keep on working, and my employer doesn’t have short-term disability at this time.
My goal would be to be able to stay home for the rest of my treatments in order to heal and get better. I’m looking at another 6-7 weeks. Without help, I’m not able to follow through with this goal. I greatly appreciate any help you’re willing to provide.
***UPDATE***
Sunday, September 29th, I was rushed into emergency with a pulmonary embolism in my lungs. I’m currently on blood thinners and just taking it literally day to day. I am still getting chemo weekly and radiation daily. My blood cell count is staying good and not dropping. My work and I have both agreed it’s just too dangerous for me to work at this time. Some of you may see me out on my route just so I can update my route as needed and of course see some Halloween decorations. I want to say thank you for your continued support and prayers. My family and I are truly blessed by all of you.
