Aid the Sarmiento Family After Baby Josiah's Passing

Hello, my name is Jeff Sarmiento and my wife Lucy Ruales. We have 2 beautiful children.

Jeff Sarmiento Segundo is my son; he is 8 years old.

And my daughter Ariana Sarmiento is 5 years old.

My wife and I, as well as my children and the rest of our family, were expecting a beautiful baby boy named Josiah Sarmiento to be born on February 22. Sadly, Josiah had a very hard time in the womb and my wife had a hard pregnancy. Josiah did not grow his hand and part of his forearm; he grew his upper arm and his elbow, but it stopped there. We were unsure as to why this was happening and we consulted the Lord for guidance.

We came to be excited for baby Josiah even with his disability. Then we found out that my wife had a syndrome called amniotic band syndrome, and that was the reason why baby Josiah could not grow his arm fully. One of the bands constricted his arm very early on and it could not grow. The doctors told us that the bands were still floating around inside with Josiah and that there is a possibility that they could constrict the umbilical cord. Even though we remained hopeful through prayer and our Lord Jesus, on December 16th, my son Josiah passed away inside the womb.

My wife was induced and on December 18th, he was born at 6:55 am.

There was lots of evidence as to why he passed; he was wrapped up in the umbilical cord, as well as the amniotic band had tied around his little face and neck.

Josiah fought hard, but he was still too small and he did not make it.

Through this grieving process, I ask for help from friends, family, neighbors, and my community. Help me be here for my family so we can take the time we need to be together and grieve the loss of our son and my children’s baby brother. Thank you all and God bless everyone.
