Aid the Ramos Family: ALS Challenges

This is Jacqs, on behalf of the Ramos family. Some of you may know, I still do some home health on the Southside of San Antonio, a community that I hold dear to me and have grown to appreciate despite not growing up here.

Mr. Ramos is a patient who I have been treating for the past year. He was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a few years ago. Any google search can tell you this is a progressive neurological disorder which over time will make functional movement as simple as sitting to standing a very difficult and unsafe task. Mr. Ramos is a highly determined and very motivated to continue to fight to slow down the eventual progression of his disease.

Mr. Ramos requires a significant amount of assistance with transferring and walking, and he relies solely on his wife Mrs. Ramos, who is an excellent caregiver and doting wife. Currently he stays mainly at home due to not having a car hitch to bring his power scooter around,

and has fallen multiple times in his bathroom due to the unsafe layout. Periods and immobility and injury have further progressed his difficulty with mobility.

The Ramos family have been battling one obstacle to another when it comes to his medical care. I am asking today for your help (of any donation) to assist their family in obtaining enough funds for a power chair ramp and car hitch so that Mr. Ramos can have easier access when he leaves the home for medical

appointments and other reasons, and money for bathroom renovation that he desperately needs to make his bathroom more accessible and safe for both him and his caregivers.
