Friends and family, my name is Christy Corbin Ramirez. Many of you already know me, but for those of you that don't, I am Carrie's best friend.
I am coming here to ask for help for the Moore Family. Yesterday, June 17th, when the storms came through, a large tree fell and hit their home. Everyone, including all their animals, are fine. That's the main thing. Anyone that knows Carrie and Colby knows that they are the most kind-hearted and loving people in the world. Both of them give their time and energy to help others. I have seen them go without sleep or being able to spend time with their own family in order to help others. There has never been a time that I have called and needed them that they have not been there.
However, they need your help because as many of you know, they have had the absolute worst time the last 6 months. Colby went through 3 horrible rounds of chemo. Carrie spent her days divided between work, the hospital, and home, taking care of their son, Jon. Thankfully, he is cancer-free now! Colby's dad, Carroll, has been in the hospital for at least 2 weeks now battling a raging infection that almost took him from us. Colby is still trying to regain his strength and stamina from the chemo and has just returned to work. He is going down to the hospital to be with his dad when he can; however, he must be vigilant due to his weakened immune system. Carrie is once again juggling work, home, and hospital to ensure that Carroll is never alone.
Cancer is a nasty beast, and battling it is not easy on anyone. The financial side of cancer that they never tell you is that even insurance will not cover most treatments, so you pay out of pocket. When people say cancer takes everything from you, they are not just talking about your loved ones. They are talking about emotionally, mentally, your time, your spirit, and your finances. Carrie and Colby are blessed to have good jobs and some savings, so while cancer tried its best to break them, it was not successful.
Let's get to the problem at hand, this tree. With their resources tapped out, they need any and all help they can get. We have no idea if the home is a total loss yet or not. The first thing they are going to have to do is get the tree removed and then an inspection to find out. The house does not have power to it right now since the extent of the damage is unknown. This means that they will need to stay somewhere until the inspection is done at the very least. There is another piece of the puzzle too. Unfortunately, they do not have homeowners insurance to cover any of the costs. That means if the house can be repaired, those costs will be coming out of pocket. If the house cannot be repaired, they will have to replace/rebuild it.
Please folks, let's all rally together to help the Moore family because there is no family more worthy of your help right now.
