Let’s help the Lindley family in their time of need. Jamie and Andrew are always going out of their way to support others and their community. Right now their family needs our help as some they real from a difficult month medically.
Sunday October 26, Carter, their 8.5 year old son, woke up with a fever, vomiting, and ear pain. After an urgent care visit they determined he had an ear infection and started him on antibiotics. He was brought to St. Luke’s ER on October 27, Carter was suffering from stroke like symptoms and vitals were unstable. His face and part of his body became paralyzed. Carter was transported via ambulance to the Woodlands Texas Children’s. The medical team there was struggling to diagnose Carter and his symptoms were rapidly declining. That night he was life flighted to Texas Children’s in the Medical Center where he currently is staying in the ICU.
Carter has had countless MRIs, tests, and bloodwork to determine what caused all of this. At TCH they determined he had Bacterial Meningitis, a bone infection in his ear due to the ear infection, and Bells Palsy.
This all started from an ear infection that went into his bone and brain and caused bacterial meningitis. This is the cause of the neurological issues and face drooping, hearing and vision problems. On October 28th, they did surgery to drill out some bone for his ear infection.
He is still receiving treatment for his meningitis. He will be in the hospital for 3-5 weeks to treat this. Meningitis is inflammation of the membranes (meninges) that cover the brain and spinal cord. It is a severe infection and can lead to permanent disabilities. It caused from the streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, but is rare to contract.
The treatment for this is IV antibiotics and corticosteroids in hospital. He’s constantly undergoing testing, and under the care of numerous medical teams to help recover him as fully as possible.
The Lindley family has had their world turned upside down this month with medical issues. Everything was put on pause to get Carter the life saving care he so desperately needed. Harper, her youngest, also had neck surgery October 9th from a birth injury. Harper is in a full neck brace and requires PT over the next year to help rebuild her neck muscles. Then the same day Carter was rushed to the ER, Taylor her middle daughter broke her arm.
Please help support their family as they pay for medical bills from Harpers surgery, and now to help Carter fight this life threatening illness in the ICU. Texas Children’s is out of their network and the financial responsibility is expected to be immense. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and make a big difference for the family as they navigate this difficult time.
