Hello, my name isn’t important here, but what is important is that my kind neighbors next door have lost their home in a fire last night and no one deserves that. They are husband and wife. Their names are Terry and Kelly DeHaai and their dog’s name is Ashella.

Last night while shutting my blinds before bed, I saw smoke rising up past the tree tops in my neighbors direction. Moments later, sheriffs, fire trucks and an ambulance raced around the corner to help the DeHaai’s. I watched and listened helplessly as more and more fire trucks arrived. The smoke billowing out faster than the water could possibly put it out. Even once the flames were thought to be controlled, they quickly grew bigger than before. The problem was that there are no hydrants around to help supply water and put the fire out. Kelly couldn’t bare to leave her dog, Ashella behind and ran in to successfully rescue the family member. Her husband Terry (an amputee) sat in his wheelchair in total disbelief.

Today while visiting the DeHaai’s in their hotel room, we were informed that their home and everything inside of it is a total loss. Nothing is recoverable. Their dog has also sustained smoke inhalation and has a journey to recovery ahead. They are left with just the clothes on their backs. Even if you don’t know the DeHaai’s, I’m sure you can sympathize with their story. They are in need of the communities help. Even if you can only donate a little, anything helps!
