My name is Susana and I wanted to share a terrible loss that we had this Memorial Day weekend.

We moved into this house in 2018, this was our first built dream house. Its hard to say we a blink or our eyes, fire destroyed in minutes….

On May 23rd, 2025, around 10 pm, me, my son Adrian (10 years old), my dad (71 years old), and my brother (47 years old) were in the house when we found out our garage was on fire.

We were lucky to leave the house before it got worse. I was the one who found the fire in the garage. I thought at first we left the stove open, but then when I realized that it wasn’t, I went straight to the garage because the smell also came from there. The garage is next to my room and the kitchen. When I tried to open the garage door (it was jammed), a big black smoke came right through the door. I panicked and went out to the garage from outside to see what had happened. When my dad came and helped me open the garage door, we noticed a flame light up the garage and then we realized that we couldn’t stop the fire. It went so fast that we just ran out of the house.

We are very devastated by our loss, but we are happy that we didn’t get injured. However, most of our reserved food, valuable tools, a car that we were trying to fix, and other things that were there are lost and can’t be recovered.

We created this GoFundMe just to help us a little bit with small expenses for food and clothes and help us go through the process of changes in our lives.
