Aid Texas Isaiah in an Urgent Time of Need
Donation protected
Hello, my first name is Texas Isaiah, and I am an artist originally from Brooklyn. I've been living in Los Angeles for the last 8 years, but have been back on the East Coast since February.
Over the past year, I have been grappling with multiple family emergencies. Thankfully, there is slow progress on the other side, but it has been financially, emotionally, and mentally challenging. As a first-generation individual, my family depends on me, and I have been trying to keep things afloat despite a lack of work and relief.
In early February, I went to New York City for caretaker duties and planned to sublet my apartment for the summer. Unfortunately, my subletter's expected state support fell through in April. Although we agreed he would repay me for the missed months, communication has been unclear and sporadic, leaving me facing potential evictions due to the unresolved situation and not being able to find reliable subletters.
I need support for back rent since March ($5K - 3K out of the 5K due ASAP!), as well as summer sustainability, to determine if I need to relocate to the East Coast to continue my caretaking duties permanently. This support will also allow me to continue to address health needs (doctor appointments, medications, etc.) that I have neglected since being back in NYC, especially since my insurance has just run out (which is only suppose to be used in LA County). I also have $1K in personal medical bills, and the remainder will be for what I have contributed to family medical expenses over the past year, as well as other financial responsibilities that have fallen to the wayside. [full total is way more but only asking for 6K].
WAYS TO SUPPORT: this GoFundMe,
or
Purchasing of exhibition pieces: I have approximately 45 framed photographs in various sizes that I have taken over the last 8 years from my former gallery, which now need homes. Please email me directly if interested.
Asking for public support is difficult and is my last resort. People tend to assume that you have more than what you have - my birthday is on July 20th, and I am in desperate need of some relief. I understand that everyone is facing their own struggles, but any contribution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
