Support Terry's Raod To Recovery

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to family and friends to raised funds to support my aunt Terry, medical and daily expenses. I am creating this fundraiser to help with her medical out-of-pocket expenses. She was diagnosed with brain tumor called Vestibular schwannoma, a noncancerous (benign) that is located in the brain that affects main nerve leading to the inner ear.

A Vestibular schwannoma usually grows slowly but, in her case, it grew large enough to interfere with her functioning. She was unable to eat as everything resulted in vomiting. She had daily headaches, imbalance and weakness. It has grown to the point where surgery was her only option. She had to undergo major surgery which included partial removal of the tumor and insertion of a brain shunt. The first procedure took place in December 2023, that took over 3hrs where the doctors inserted a device in her brain to drain excess fluid to the abdomen (VP Shunt). The second procedure took place in March 2024 where the doctor removed part of the tumor which that took over 11hrs. The doctor said it was the largest tumor he had ever seen.

When she underwent the second surgery, this left her in debilitating state. She had difficulty swallowing, consistent hand tremors, right sided weakness and unbalance gait that requires the use of a cane to assist her with walking. She has been experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. There is an overwhelming sense of worry and fear, but she is a fighter with everything that she has been through.

Witnessing her in this vulnerable state stirred a deep empathy and a profound desire to do everything possible to ease her discomfort and support her recovery. It has been incredibly tough for us to see her not being her usual self. It is heart-wrenching knowing that this sudden life event changed my aunt. Terry was very vibrant, a lover of life, she is supportive, and generous and just have a warm heart and soul.

The road to recovery is a long one, and I am asking for your assistance and your support to help my aunt get back on her feet. Her recovery is our utmost priority, she needs speech therapy, physical therapy and radiation to shrink the remainder of the tumor located in the brain. As you know medical expenses can be an overwhelming burden. Please support her through this challenging time, any donation will be highly appreciated.
