Aid Tater & Tots Fight for Health and Healing

First, let me start by saying that I am aware the world we are living in now can be a very dark place and I know there are people with bigger problems than ours. Since people have asked how they can help, and the animal clinic will not allow payments to made directly, I decided to try this route.

Three of the things that bring so much light to our world were almost ripped from us late last week. Two of three of our beautiful Aussies were attacked right in our backyard - assuming by coyote(s).

Tot was strangled to the point where she sustained a broken blood vessel in her eye. Initially, the vet thought she might have sustained a broken neck and sent her X-rays out to a specialist. Thank goodness a broken neck was ruled out. She does however have a broken rib on the left side as well as several puncture wounds around her neck and torso. She required oxygen for 2 days before she was finally released to come home over the weekend. She is on several medications for comfort and to prevent infection.

Tater is much worse off. He was grabbed on both sides of his torso and the skin was ripped from his body. It is now a waiting game to see how well he can heal. Failure to heal will leave him with a gaping open wound from one side of his torso to the other. Treatment would require skin grafts. Praying that his skin survives and his wounds can be closed soon! He is currently requiring a nasogastric tube for feedings as he will not eat. He’s been having some episodes of regurgitation which puts him at a greater risk for aspiration.

We can’t forget about our 3rd baby, Izzy….the baby of the bunch. Despite the horrendous injuries to the other two, it could have been so much worse had Izzy not alerted her people that something bad was happening. There’s not a doubt in my mind that she saved their lives!

All of this to say, our vet bill is ever growing. We’re creeping up to 11K between the two pups and Taters wounds are not even closed yet. If you’ve met these dogs, you’ve likely fallen in love. If you cannot help financially but would still like to help - please shoot up a prayer for healing and comfort for our fur babies as well as their humans. We’re all pretty traumatized.
