Aid Sunny's Fight Against Heart Trouble

You always hear that life is bigger than the game. And few things put that in perspective like family. And even less things narrow that focus like realizing how fragile and fleeting our lives are and can be.
My friends and I are a group of guys who work hard and play harder. Until the other day, when it all came to a screeching halt with a sobering conversation.
My friend Sunny does anything for his family. Works tirelessly, all hours of the day, doing whatever he possibly can to help support them with his wife. And this is all after a long day of running his daughter to hula and volleyball practice and helping guide his son to a successful career as a student athlete.
While driving, he began to feel his heart zoom. A sensation like he’d never felt before. It was alarming and terrifying. He almost lost consciousness while at the wheel. When he safely made it home, he contacted the doctors and was told a horrifying truth. He was informed that one of the main valves that transports blood to his heart had a sizable hole in it. And that cavity made his heart pump harder than it ever had in order to draw in the circulation needed to keep him going. According to the doctor, he was moments away from a catastrophic heart attack!
The next steps are for the doctors to perform a test that requires putting him under an anesthetic, then shocking his heart in the hopes that they can jolt it back to a regular rhythm. At best it’s a coin toss. If that doesn’t work, the answer will be a far more invasive surgery. In short, a heart operation.
So here’s why you’re reading this. Sunny is a humble man. He’s the type of man that would give (and has given) his shirt off of his back for a stranger if they needed it. He’s a good man. I wouldn’t request this otherwise. But being that his family is already enduring so much, it is our hope to be able to alleviate some of the financial burden that accompanies these procedures and tests. He would never ask you this himself, but as his best friends and family, we wanted to reach out and extend the ask on his behalf. So if there’s anything that you can contribute, any amount, we ask that you please do. And if you can’t give but can at least amplify the reach of this request, we would be equally as grateful. We don’t expect to be able to take all the expenses off of them, but at least lend some and at the very least show them that they are loved. That he is.
We want to thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and most especially if you’re in a position to help. Even if you’re not able to help nominally, if you can share this message, it may fall upon the ears and heart of someone who can.
Wishing all the best of health and love to you and your family.
Mahalo as well for all the thoughts, prayers and love.
Truly,
John Lane
