Aid Steve's journey to recovery in Houston

My father, Steve Tecca, is loved by so many. I am still in disbelief as I write these words. Cancer is a word we have all grown to hate in this family, and yet it doesn’t relent itself upon any of the people we love and care for. My father has been diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder/cancer, and we have received the delicate news that he will need to prepare for a stem cell transplant. With this type of treatment, my father will need to live within an apartment in the hospital facility so that he may receive treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, TX.

Living is not cheap, but surviving is even more expensive. We are using every advantage and resource we can so that he may have the opportunity to heal and thrive.

Steve spent many years working in the medical field in multiple rural communities and at times in large hospitals. Every person that knows my father has loved and cared for him over his tenure in our small hometown.

My father showed compassion to each and every co worker and patient. He always greeted them with a smile, calmed them down when they were afraid, and spoke to them with respect and kindness. We even spent many summers and winters cutting and gathering wood from the mountains to deliver to families that could not make that drive or could not cut and split wood for themselves.

I am asking for help so that we may raise enough money for my father to get the treatment he needs. One of the remarkable things about our hometown is that our community always comes together to help.

And here we are – pleading for help – so that my father can return to the Gila mountains where he felt the most at home. Where his spirituality thrived. To see him now would break your heart. He cannot fish, hunt, or hardly hike, but if we can get him the treatment he needs, then we would not only save his life, but his soul! We can not thank you enough for any generosity you can share with us!
