Aid Stephanie's Journey to Stability and Wellness

My name is Julie, I'm Stephanie's daughter. Here, she is pictured with my boys, her only grandkids.

I'm organizing this on her behalf. She's a very humble, hard-working person who would go out of her way to help others in need. She really would appreciate your help.

She has had a LOT of disturbance in her life the past two years. In September of 2022, her house was involved in Hurricane Ian, which was one of three areas in Florida to be hit the worst. https://youtu.be/TLVf4qXIcsA?si=U7vq_LdRmyIcOyjY and to this day, almost 23 months later there has been little to no progress to rebuild the interior of her home. She has no floors in some of her rooms, merely covered with butcher paper and painters tape. She has no ceiling or insulation, merely protected by a layer of contractors' plastic. (The air conditioning escapes, even when her thermostat is set at 70° it's 78 or higher in her house.) She has no walls or drywall in many of her rooms, merely studs showing to the exterior walls of her home. And she has NO KITCHEN. She does have a refrigerator and microwave thankfully, but for almost 2 years she has not enjoyed a home cooked meal that she prepared for herself in her oven or on her stovetop. Her appliances were compromised by the flooding and power outages, so for her safety, and until she is able to have work begin on repairing all the damage, she has been instructed not to plug in any electrical device on that side of her house.

She spent over a year living in her bed in the middle of her living room. At times with too much rain, it seeps through from her living room windows, floods her floors as she mops to keep anything else she has to salvage in safekeeping. This is no way to live.

She has no other furniture that sustained the water damage, nowhere else for her to sit, except on her bed or a chair she picked up from a thrift shop.

She has been in mitigation for almost two years trying to recover from her insurance claim, dealing with depositions and tons of paperwork, photo and receipt submissions with no end in sight. Her claim is still not approved, and costs have increased tremendously in the past 2 years, once and if this ever is, she's going to have to pack up what she has and store it, then pay to live elsewhere while the construction is done, whenever that is.

To add to that distraughtful situation, she's also dealing with medical concerns. A two time cancer survivor, she recently had surgery to remove a lymph node in her breast. Pathology results are not available yet. Still recovering from that, just today (Sunday, July 27th 2024) she tripped and fell over a cement block, hit her head and was diagnosed with a concussion and a broken wrist which will require surgery. She is left-handed, and of course this was her left wrist. She's been instructed not to drive or do any activity that could compromise her injuring herself again.

She has lovely neighbors and a couple really good friends that are always willing to help. She is now at a point where she honestly is so emotionally deposited, physically drained, and financially exhausted.

I'm hoping to raise money for her to help with medical needs, to purchase groceries, to buy meals that can be delivered, to do with it however she needs to use it...

I hope to gather anything you are willing to donate to her, even if it's just a share or a prayer.

This has been a very long and grueling road for her. She remains positive and hopeful. I don't know how she does it. I don't know why she's been dealt all this to handle herself, but I'm proud of her for keeping her faith and head held high.

If you are still reading, I appreciate your coming this far to see her story.

Thank you for any support you are able to provide for her.

**Update**

Thank you to those who have reached out, shared, and donated for my mom. Although in good spirits, she had a setback yesterday while visiting the surgeon's office. The doctor who was preferred to perform her surgery is out of the country and actually reached out to her personally stating that he wasn't the best man for the job because of the complicated and intricate surgery that is ahead of her. I guess we need to take that as a good thing that he was honest and upfront about that, but it's back to the drawing board to find a doctor who is confident with the entire process.

In speaking with her yesterday, she is in pain, but remains positive and strong, and knows the challenges and long road ahead of her.

**Second update**
On Thursday, August 8th she will be having surgery to repair the extensive damage she endured. Then, on the road to recovery. We appreciate your support by donations, your shares and prayers.
