Aid Stacy Heap’s Healing and Family Crisis

Stacy Heap - my friend for 30 years - is one of the most generous and thoughtful people I know. She is going through a very difficult time.

Her mom has had some health problems and wasn’t going to be able to visit this year. Stacy was worried sick over her and was trying to get through the busy holiday season at work so she could go home to Michigan to see her mom. She was working her butt off making money to go visit and then, on Friday 12/21, she was in an accident with her bike. Her ankle was badly broken. The emergency room had to break it again in order to set it. And who knew there was a freaking painkiller shortage in Miami? She needs surgery to repair her ankle and will be out of work for the foreseeable future.

Then, out of nowhere, today her beloved nephew Michael died suddenly. He is disabled and there is no insurance to help at this time. Stacy needs to go to Michigan to her mom and then to Ohio for the funeral. Her sister is a single mom - the entire family consists of Stacy, her mom, her sister, and her nephew.

All of this has happened to her in less than a week.

As many of you know, Stacy works as a yacht stew - which is basically freelance work with no health/disability/paid time off or other benefits. It’s a physical job which she cannot do anytime in the near future. She doesn’t have insurance or savings to last as long as she will be out of work. She will also have medical bills, though luckily she has basic medical insurance which should cover some of her bills.

As I am sure you all know, Stacy would give you the shirt off her back. She would give her last dollar to someone she thought needed it. Please give if you can. I know Stacy will be thankful.
