UPDATE! Our baby Spike is HOME!!!!!! He was in the ICU for Non Cardiogenic Pulmonary Edema. Apparently this happened primarily because of his collar. I had no idea that this could happen and I’ve had dogs all of my 63 years. He pulls (of course...he’s a puppy!), but in no way pulls harder that a corgi puppy I had years ago. Apparently, you can restrict the airway enough walking with a regular collar that, over a short period of time, you can end up here. We watch these pups like hawks and had no idea this was happening. This little guy is only 3 months and 3 weeks old but has already taken life by the horns and demanded our love and adoration. Born the runt to Dixie (Aggie Wasson and Melissa Missy Dreyer, breeders extraordinaire), Spike is like every runt I've ever had....a pure beast, lol! This didn't have anything to do with breeding, just lack of knowledge on the part of his parents. We are currently counting Spike's respirations constantly and trying our level best to keep him down. He'll need another two weeks of rest for his lungs to heal....ya'll know what that's like. He has some pneumonia and is on antibiotics for that. If we are villigent, he will make a full recovery. Right now I am listening to him say "Lady! (he doesn't call me Mommy) Get me some snacks! Spike can always eat!

The vet bills were not as much as were estimated thank God. He is at $4000.00 instead of $8,000.00. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you can do!
