Aid Shelby's Journey to Health and Recovery

Shelby is a 911 dispatcher with the Joplin Police Department and her husband is a Police Officer. They both serve their community and help others through tragic moments in their lives on a daily basis. Now they are experiencing a tragedy themselves and need the help from their community that they proudly serve.

Shelby has been suffering from seizures the past few years and each seizure appeared to be worse than the last. She has had multiple test and several different diagnosis but no real solutions. In the past two years she started to have blank seizures where she would stop comprehending what is going around and just blankly stare. About a month ago she had gotten a severe migraine that lasted for several days. Doctors could not provide any relief no matter what they tried. The severe pain finally went away and she has had a manageable head ache ever since. On Tuesday the 21st she had a seizure while at work. It was much different than the past ones. It took her almost an hour to come out of it and be able to walk and talk. Her Dr upped her seizure medicine in hopes that would help. On the 27th at 130am she had another seizure while at home. This one took 4 hours to come out of and still has not regained full comprehension with words and conversations. She had to be transported to a hospital via ambulance where she was later determined to have a golf ball sized mass tumor on her brain. She was emergency life flighted to Columbia, MO. It is unknown if the tumor is cancerous or not. She is scheduled for brain surgery on Thursday the 30th to have to tumor removed and tested. She will be in recovery for several months and unable to work or take care of her family. Shelby is a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
