The day Russia invaded Ukraine, Serhii Liaskovskyi volunteered to join the Ukrainian army to defend his family and country. For the past three years, he has served his people faithfully in the 30th Mechanized Infantry seeing action at Bakhmut and other areas of Eastern Ukraine. During recent combat operations, Serhii was seriously wounded by an enemy cluster bomb which left him with injuries all over his body and blindness in one eye. This is the third time he has been injured and hospitalized since the beginning of the war. These hospitalizations have diminished his family's savings and made it difficult for him to support his wife and two-year-old daughter. The purpose of this fundraiser is to gather funds to provide his wife, Brittany Liaskovska, and daughter, Emberlee Liaskovska, with some reprieve as Serhii continues his recovery.
Seeing as GoFundMe does not allow funds to be raised in Ukraine directly, all donations will be collected in the US and then sent to Serhii and Brittany at their home in Mizhhir'ya, Ukraine via Zelle.
These funds will be used exclusively for the purposes of buying daily necessities such as diapers and food, making house payments, and paying utility bills.
For those who would like to know more about how the manager of this fundraiser is connected to the situation: My name is Cyrus Crockett and I lived in Ukraine from 2018-2020. It was during this period that I met Serhii and was immediately taken by his kindness and good nature. After I returned to the United States, we remained good friends and spoke online whenever we could. I can personally vouch for his character, courage, and desire to protect his people. I consider helping Serhii and his family in their time of need to be the least I can do.
I sincerely hope that you will consider donating what you can to assuage the difficulties of someone who has willingly laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom for his people.
