Hello all, my name is Scott. I am a single 63-year-old man from Chicago. I am fundraising because I recently lost my job unexpectedly and had to give up my apartment. I had living arrangements that fell through. I was not prepared for this to happen. I had enough money to pay to stay at a very inexpensive hotel, pay a car payment and my phone bill but I do not have enough to get me through this month and beyond. In turn, I am spending my days in my car. What little I do have left, I am using for food. I use my phone to apply for jobs but so far nothing has come through. I will continue to search and apply. My job was independent ride share and in turn I am ineligible for unemployment. To add, I am also a type 2 diabetic and need insulin. But, I have no place to keep it cold as required. I am feeling the effects of not having the insulin as my feet are swollen, red and painful. In addition to diabetes, I also have Peripheral Neuropathy which causes me not to be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. I have been in and out of the hospital for treatment for both I over the last few months. I do have Medicaid for insurance but still need some funds to cover my medicine which I unfortunately do not have. I have reached out to an attorney to help me apply for disability through social security which is free until I would get any funds and they take money from there. However, this process can take up to two years. I am not one to ask for help, but I am running out of options. Please consider helping me out. No amount is too small and will be greatly appreciated more than you know. All funds will go toward me finding a place to stay and other essential bills. Any extra will be put aside for savings so I don’t go through this hardship again. Thank you for your time and possibly your help.
