Aid Scarlett Reign's Fight for Recovery
Donation protected
On August 20th, 2024 Scarlett Reign was admitted to Mary Bridge due to feeding intolerance.
In the beginning Scarlett was septic & having 10+ straight liquid blow outs per day. This trend continued until the 1st of September when they stopped ALL medications and fluids (including pedialyte) from going into her gut.
On September 2nd, they had to call a code rapid to stop Scarlett from coding. Her heart rate spiked dangerously high while her O2 and BP tanked. She required 2 liters of O2 and she is now on a qt liter.
Parts of Scarlett's intestine and her entire colon are extremely swollen & inflammed but, we have no answers as to what is causing this. ALL tests have come back negative and her gut is absorbing 0% of anything that has gone through it in the last 2 weeks.
Today, despite some difficulties they were able to get a Picc line in her arm to start TPN and lipids. They also sent stool samples and cultures to UW who can do more extensive studies to try to help us figure out what is happening to our little girl.
IF they aren't able to get her gut to start functioning again within the next five days they will also conduct an endoscopy and colonoscopy to try to get answers. While the picc will buy us time.. ultimately if her gut does not start functioning again, it will only buy us time until her liver and kidneys can no longer tolerate TPN & Lipids. Unfortunately, we do not know how much time it will buy us but getting a line in was our first BIG hurdle due to how much her veins are scared from previous lines (she was also born with bad veins to begin with).
During this time, both mom and dad have missed work and have been traveling too and from the hospital with three other kids.
Since we've been asked to create a gofundme by so many friends and family, we decided to stop being stubborn and let our loved ones help during this difficult time
