Hello everyone. My name is Ruben Harper. I am the husband of Rosa Harper. My wife not to recently underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery.

Rosa suffered ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) since 2019. It unfortunately caused her to loose much of her independence sense having to attend dylasis three days a week. Not being able to travel to attend family outings and/or go places without receiving a dylasis appointment for those family events was one of the hardest and most difficult for her to cope with.My name is Ruben Harper. I am the husband of Rosa Harper. By the grace of God, my wife not too recently underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery. Which humbly brought me to composing her story and seeking support via GoFund platform.
Rosa has suffered ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) since 2019. Horribly, this is a grave disease that cripples and drastically deprives people from enjoying their most basic freedoms. I say this because it unfortunately caused her to loose much of her independence sense having to attend dylasis three days a week.
Not being able to travel to family outings and/or go places without receiving a dylasis appointment/schedule for such family events was one of the most hardest and challenging for us both to cope with.
Can you imagine-it being one thing having to console my wife when things are naturally hard and totally fixable. It’s the complete opposite, nonetheless, when you (as a husband/wife) have to go up against an unwelcomed disease like ESRD too.
It's true, I struggled along with my wife because our faith, courage, and patience (to name a few) is consistently tested. It was never easy to look her in her eyes and attempt to convince her (daily) that better things with her life were on the horizon.
ESRD was tarring her insides a part. I say this because the human body is not designed to operate without functioning kidneys. We can be okay with one, but none is a high risk to the quality of a person’s body and life. With impurities and intoxins being unable to naturally be discharged from the body’s urine. This inhumane process takes a toll on the affected body as a whole.
Subsequently, ESRD caused my wife to undergo dylasis in March 2019 and it got worse to where it too caused my wife to contract an Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) disease with her heart.
An “AFib” is an irregular heartbeat in short as this new heart disease had to unfortunately pair up with her weekly dylasis treatments. Imagine sitting in a seat for 3-4 hours straight while your blood is being pushed through machine tubes. It’s like running a marathon of the sort while the heart ( my wife’s) pounds and beats in company with an AFib disease.
Anyway, considering her being blessed with a new kidney presently. Happily, I can say that life ( for us both(smiling)) is a bit brighter because she does not have to schedule any unwavering dylasis appointments whenever we want to suddenly travel. Yeppi!
However, her ESRD is nothing like a piece of cancer (no offense) or the like to where a Doctor could detect through extensive tests and zap and/or remove it. My wife has to take kidney transplant medicine for the entirety of her life. And we have to hope and pray that her ESRD does not outmatch her medically-altered immune system with this prescribed lifelong medication.
By that, I wanted to tell our story in hopes that people could help. Help, in a sense, of possibly funding us in not limited to us being able to take care of my wife’s medication purchases, gas trips (to and from the post kidney transplant doctor visits), hotel expenses all respectively as we reside like seven hours away from these things my wife needs to stay on track.
Speaking of which, our travels to her Doctors will range from two times a month (1st month) , to three times a month (2-3 month) to once every six months throughout the year. All depends on her overall ESRD compliance, and her new kidney transformation with her medications. Medicine I have to take her to get.
Thanks for your time, help and consideration in this important matter.
Best,
Harper’s
