Help Ronnie Recover After Emergency Foot Surgery

A couple weeks ago Ronnie woke up and hit the ground running… HARD. But alas, no, this was not a typical "get up and go" morning for our devil-horned friend. When I say he hit it hard, I’m being quite literal, you see. Ronnie was skating to work at Ace Tattoo and Piercing when a reckless driver made a last-minute turn and almost ran Ronnie over. While Ronnie was able to outrun the reaper once again, he was not able to escape injury. What was thought to be possibly just a bone bruise on the bottom of his foot where he hit a crevice in the street ended up being a broken bone with the bone chip floating around. After a few days of toughing it out through unbearable pain, we went to the ER. This is when we got the prognosis from the amazing crew of doctors at UCSD Hillcrest. They informed us that unfortunately, a very serious MRSA infection had spread from his foot to part of his bones in his feet and was necrotizing the flesh within his foot. In order to save Ronnie’s foot, and even more importantly his life, surgeons had to immediately admit him to the hospital for emergency surgery. They were able to remove the dead flesh, as well as *hopefully* the rest of the infection that was trying its best to take our beloved friend to an early grave.

After attending Ronnie’s first follow up appointment the doctors are worried that they have not quite gotten all of the infection. We are doing our best to keep him resting and on the road to recovery. He will find out if he needs another surgery on August 8th.

Now that we’ve gotten through the hardest part, we are looking to help Ronnie handle:

• 5+ weeks off work (no income for rent, utilities, groceries, and the resources needed to care for his daughter Addie)

• Ongoing wound care and follow-up appointments

• Physical therapy to regain strength, balance, and mobility

Why We Need Your Help:

• Supporting transportation costs to and from therapy, wound care, and follow-up appointments

How Funds Will Be Used:

1. Rent & utilities: $2,000/per month for 2 months

2. Medical expenses, supplies, & prescriptions: $1,250+

3. Physical therapy & mobility aids: $950

4. Daily living essentials (food, toiletries, transportation): $1,800 for 2 months
