Aid Rona, A Pillar of Recovery Support

My name is Rona. I've lived in Lake Worth since 2017. I recently had an unexpected surgery to remove two masses from my abdomen. I work as a parliament tutor, teaching 8th grade science. It’s a charter school, and I am a 1099 employee. So not only am I out of work and a paycheck because of this medical issue, I will be out of work this summer as well.

My goal was to save over the last two months of the school year so I would be financially stable over the summer. Obviously, this has thrown a wrench in those plans, not even counting what my hospital expenses will be.

I’m in recovery. Celebrated three years of sobriety in February. When I’m not teaching 8th graders, I’m helping addicts in early recovery and sharing my story of hope at meetings and treatment facilities. I currently sponsor over 30 people, but have gratefully helped 100’s with their sober journey. I was even able to help sponsees work on their 12-step program while I was in the hospital (including one of my sponsees who created the GoFundMe page). I love my life and helping others. I know it’s my purpose!
