Help Our Family Recover from a Devastating Wildfire

We could never have imagined finding ourselves in such a difficult situation as we are in now.

Our family — Roman Filippov, Nancy Schneider, Roman’s 14-year-old son Artem, our beloved cat Grogu, and our dog Misha — moved to the United States five years ago to build a life and career. We settled in Altadena, where we found not just a house but a true home.

Our home became a special place, not only for us but also for our friends and community. It was a welcoming retreat for dozens of friends and acquaintances in Los Angeles. Everyone who visited felt the love and warmth we poured into it. It was a place where we worked, created, hosted, and even provided shelter for those in need — including people displaced by the war in Ukraine.

We were building a new life step by step, but everything changed when a devastating wildfire struck our neighborhood. The fire made us vulnerable in ways we never expected. Miraculously, our house survived, but it suffered significant damage. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to return to our normal life there.

We face a long road to recovery, and as newcomers to this country without close family or relatives nearby, we find ourselves in urgent need of support. Roman continues his work as an engineer, but he requires specialized medical care that we cannot afford on our own. Additionally, we are still working on finalizing our immigration paperwork, which is another significant expense, all while trying to repair and restore our home.

This tragedy has left a deep wound in our hearts, but we believe that with your help, we can overcome this.
