Help River's Mom Recover From Forced Relocation

Hello! My name is River. I live in Asheville, NC. I'm raising funds for my mother who lives in Atlanta, GA. She is in need of community support to recover from a forced relocation as a result of rapid gentrification.

For context, Atlanta is one of the fastest gentrifying cities in America. In the last 7 years my mother has had to relocate 3 times, having her homes sold off while she was living in them. This has obviously caused a major strain on finances: the cost of moving, finding semi-affordable housing, and keeping your head above water in a major city where rental costs continue to soar. Not to mention the stress of having to catch up financially each and every time your stability is disrupted. And right now given our current economic and political climate, it is harder than ever to recover.

I am raising this money for her because I don't want to see my mother struggle. She deserves not only to survive, but to thrive! And my intention is to call on the help of the community I have access to in order to get her to a more stable position.

The goal is $2,000 to cover 1 month's rent and moving cost. 100% of the money raised will go to her.

I have a larger goal of $5,000, of which the rest will go to other mutual aid initiatives helping folks with rent assistance in the Atlanta and WNC area!
