Hello! My name is Brandie. I’m one of Rick and Kandie’s daughters.
Falling. Falling has been an issue for my dad since his stroke in 2008. It used to make him so mad that we did our best to make it all jokes and fun. Now, it’s all terror.
On the night of June 11th, my dad, Rick, fell down the stairs. This has happened multiple times in the last few months, leading to ER visits and concussions.
This fall in particular was one of the worst. He was unconscious for around 5 minutes, and when he came to, he didn’t know where he was.
An ambulance was called, and they took him to the nearby hospital.
My dad fractured his left eye, his nose, multiple facial bones, his left collarbone, and has some small brain bleeds.
His delirium was at an all-time high. He was given multiple doses of antipsychotics, which made no changes to his mental state.
It was determined he needed to be life-flighted to Spokane for a trauma surgeon. They said his facial fractures would require surgery due to how complex they were.
He was very agitated and tried multiple times to get out of his bed. My mother and sister could barely understand him.
His blood pressure was too high, and that caused more concern for his brain bleeds as it put more work on his body.
He lost control of his bladder during all of this. He was spitting and coughing up so much blood they felt the need to intubate. They also inserted a tube into his stomach to drain all the blood he was sawllowing from his facial fractures.
He was intubated and then flown to Spokane, where he is in the ICU. No doctor has given any updates to my family. We do not know the state of his brain bleeds, or his fractures, or how he did overnight.
My mother is on her way to him and will need to be with him as much as she can. His flight was not fully covered by insurance, and with needing surgeries and an ICU stay, their bills will only increase.

I am making this GoFundMe to help raise funds for their medical bills during this awful time and to help her with travel and lodging while she is away from home.
Please donate, share, pray, and send so many positive vibes our way. He may be stable, but we won’t know the outcome of these brain bleeds until he is awake and we find out how much damage they did.
