Last night, our friend Rick suffered a sudden stroke and was rushed to the hospital, then air-vacced to a Neuro ICU. Doctors found a blocked carotid artery, and he now faces a long road to recovery, including speech therapy and ongoing neurological care.

This happened at the worst possible time. Today was supposed to be Rick’s first day at a new job—a job he had worked for years to get. His coverage wasn’t in place yet, and instead of celebrating a fresh start, Rick and his wife, Mandy, are facing an overwhelming medical crisis.
