Aid Rachel's Path to Health and Hope

Hello, my name is Rachel and I’m reaching out during one of the hardest times in my life.

Since 2023, I’ve been quietly battling my mental health. In 2024, things became overwhelming, and I made the difficult but necessary decision to voluntarily admit myself to a psychiatric hospital. I’ve always tried to push through and be strong, but that moment showed me just how much help I truly needed.

In January, I left my job due to my health, and soon after, my mom was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. I’ve spent the last several months searching for work while doing everything I can to support her, just like I did for my dad when he was sick. Despite sending out countless applications, I’ve only had one interview—and no job offer. As much as I want to focus on rebuilding, my heart has been pulled toward being present for my family.

Right now, I’m in a place I never thought I’d be: struggling to afford even the basics. My mental health is still a work in progress. I’m in debt from this past year, have missed medications because I can’t afford them (even with assistance applications), and I don’t have the funds for doctor visits, let alone emergencies. Additionally, my car requires repairs that are safety hazards that will total up to $1,000 and until they’re fixed I cannot safely drive the car.

I’m trying so hard to get back on my feet—looking for work, staying hopeful—but I need a lifeline. I also want to be prepared to help cover any unexpected medical expenses for my mom, who is still fighting her illness.

One family member has done what they can to support me, and I am endlessly grateful. But I’ve reached a point where I can’t do this alone anymore. Asking for help is not easy for me—it makes me feel vulnerable and, honestly, like a burden—but I know that right now, I need to ask.

If you’re able to contribute anything, no matter how small, it would mean the world to me. Every donation helps ease the weight I’m carrying and brings me closer to stability—for both myself and my Mom.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me hold onto hope.

With gratitude,
Rachel
