Aid Posaidan in Rebuilding After Flood
Donation protected
It’s me Posaidan, and the water is calling.. I lived in Camelot village for the last the three years I’ve had the underlying fear that I would end up in this senario, just didn’t think I would lose so much.
As many of you know I’ve struggled stepping into my stride and I have been trying to hit a pivot. The added stress and consistent fear of my apartment flooding is inescapable. I’ve known that Camelot village is a flood zone but this was the only living situation available to me.
I am lifeguard certified through Red Cross and have plans to work in water safety and I grew up swimming competitively. I’m lucky I got out when I did, many of my neighbors had to be evacuated by boat. Just imagining even in my peak competitive form if I tried to swim in that water flow I would have drowned in that flood. Big thanks to the rescue teams that got everyone out safely and to those providing community relief.
Everything helps, and now that it’s happened I’m relieved it’s over and want to seize this opportunity to start anew. With your support finding a secure place to stay the next couple months it’s only up from here for me.
There are many other people who live in this community, some elderly, some disabled, families, pets. I know this was an extreme amount of rain to fall in one day, but there are many more storms to come, this is North Carolina. Living on the first floor in that development even if I knew the rain was predicted to be light it would still cross the back of my mind it might flood.
