Henry Roland Byrd, aka Professor "Fess" Longhair, is a legendary New Orleans musician whose influence still persists long after his death in 1980. Anyone who has celebrated Mardi Gras in New Orleans will recognize his signature anthems, "Mardi Gras in New Orleans," "Tipitina," and "Big Chief" (with Earl King).
Ever since his death, his only child, Patricia Byrd, has been preserving his legacy. She still lives in the house her father bought in 1979. She's converted the front room into a hall of memories, the walls covered with photos of her iconic father. She continues to welcome visitors every week.
Sadly, Pat's health is declining and this very important historic home needs some love. Though she is hesitant to ask, Pat needs help with her medical bills and with the maintenance of the house.
