Aid Parker's Journey to Kidney Health

Hello! As most of you know my name is Kim Kaylor, Parkers mom. This year has been a bit of a rough one for Parker medically. In March Parker had an MRI done because his doctor was concerned about his bladder. His bladder is fine, but his doctor saw something unusual on his MRI and thought it was a tumor. In April Parker went for more testing and we found out he didn't have a tumor but that he has a dual collection system. For those that don't know, a collection system is where things filter through your kidney down a tube and into your bladder. Since Parker has a dual collection system, he has an extra tube that back flows back into his kidney. Now the hard part... We found out last month that due to the back flow causing so much damage, Parker has kidney failure on the left side. His left kidney only has 9% function left in it. Parker now needs surgery to reroute the second tube and stop the back flow in hopes of maintaining the kidney function he has left in that kidney. His surgery is set for November 6th for now, if there are any cancelations at Riley Childeren Hospital it will be moved up. I and my husband, Parkers dad Joe do not have any more vacation time at work due to all the trips to Riley for Parker this year. We will be using FMLA for our time away from work, which unfortunately is non-paid. We are now asking for the help and support of our amazing family and friends with funds for our trip and stay in Indy for Parkers surgery and recovery, and also help to off-set bills and expenses while we are on FMLA while Parker recovers at home.
