Aid Our Recovery from Home Water Damage

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, during a cold weather event, a pipe within our home burst and caused significant damage to our home, personal property, and our sense of well-being. The current conservative estimate to repair this home back to its original condition is 4-6 months. The price is undetermined at this time.

To say that this event has been stressful for us and our dogs would be an understatement. As of the writing of this donation request, we are in the middle of navigating the insurance claim, plumbing repairs, whole home renovations, our return to work, the dogs' well-being, and general day-to-day life.

We understand and anticipate that insurance will cover the bulk of the repairs and cleaning. However, beyond the things that need to be done directly for the home as they relate to this catastrophe, there are some things that need to be addressed and funded as well that will help ease our situation.

At this time, we are asking for donations to help bridge the gap on covering costs for things like:

- Pet boarding, so that the dogs can be out of the house and away from the property while it is in demolition and reconstruction.

- Temporary housing/hotel stays while the water is shut off during different times of the renovation project.

- Deposits for rental facilities.

- Laundromat facilities, again due to the water being shut off intermittently.

- Mold mitigation and other preventative measures not typically covered by insurance.

- Temporary storage for our unaffected items, so that they can be out of the way during demolition and renovation.

- Gas for the additional trips required to and from the home, rental, storage, renovation offices, insurance office, etc.

- And for anything else not already listed here.

We believe that a goal of $7,500 will help cushion the immediate and long-term costs that will be necessary in the coming days. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use. Thank you.
