I am starting this as a way to try to help elevate the burden my parents are going to face with medical treatments and bills.

If you have been following along on Facebook you know Mom and Dad got into an accident. On Sunday June 22, they went to have a date out on the bike and they were on their way home and hit a car. 10 minutes away from home a car pulled out in front of the bike right as dad was passing some cars. Bad timing of them coming out and mom and dad getting back into the lane. Unfortunately dad tried to miss them and clipped the back end of their car. This caused them to lose control. From what we have pieced together Dads body actually hit the car and sent the bike and them going left across the road. They slid 100 feet, the bike ended in grass they ended in the road. At the time Dad didn’t think he was to hurt he was just worried about Mom. Her forehead got sliced and was hanging down to her eye. So when the ambulance got to them she was the higher trauma. Come to find out. That was not the case.

Dad has 3 fractured vertebra right in the center of his back. He also broke 9 ribs on his right side. As you could imagine this has caused immense pain. He also has a punctured lung. Not collapsing thank god. So internally he is hurting. On the outside he had a gash on his arm where a chunk of meat got taken out so he also had to get stitches right ontop of road rash. He is covered in road rash; face, shoulders, arms and back. If you know him even half as good as I know him he is trying to be tough. But he is hurting right now. With him being the strongest person we know it hurts to see him like this. On top of all of this he is separated from Mom due to her also being hurt.

Mom was seen as a trauma going to the hospital lights and sirens. She has a horrible cut on her head that goes acrossed her forehead and back into her scalp. She fractured her temporal bone. Which has caused her to lose hearing in her right ear which also is painful and feels like there is fluid in it. When they slid she unfortunately slid on her right elbow, which she shredded all the way to the bone. As she did that she also caused her tricep muscle to be pulled away from that joint. So she has underwent surgery to reconnect that. She has a broken toe which just been a huge pain in the ass. If you know my Momma you know the toe is an issue for her. She is covered in road rash. It is all over her; face shoulders, back, side, stomach legs and feet. The women who has always taken away our pain is hurting and it is heart breaking.

They both are looking at a very, very long road of physical therapy ahead of them. Dad may have to go to rehab to gain his independence back. Mom will have an outpatient surgery to get tubes in her ears, and most likely to remove the tube from her arm. Not to mention just living is going to be different as Dad can’t work till he’s healed up and so food is going to cost more and power will go up on top of the medical bills. Please consider helping out the two most loving caring people I know.
