Hi!

This is my dog Nova. She is 4 years old and the sassiest, quirkiest, sweetest girl. She loves to play frisbee, show off her tricks, and be at my side all of the time. Anyone who knows me knows how much she means to me and that I would do absolutely ANYTHING to keep her happy and healthy. Nova came into my life when I needed her the most and now she needs me. This year has been very rough on her medically. Just this past May, she was admitted to MSU Small Animal Emergency Hospital for very severe gastrointestinal problems. They took amazing care of her, and she had been doing great over the past few months.

On August 14th, after I returned home from work, I could immediately tell something wasn’t right with her. She was vomiting a lot, gagging, and drooling. I took her to the emergency animal hospital closest to me, and after an evaluation, she was sent home on a couple of medications. The vomiting continued, drooling increased, and lethargy started to set in quickly within the next 24 hours.

On Saturday, August 16th, she began vomiting more frequently with blood present. I rushed her to the MSU Small Animal Emergency Clinic where her labs showed a large obstruction in her stomach and pneumonia. She will need surgery to remove the obstruction and further treatment for the pneumonia. She is currently there on pain medication and under close monitoring.

I just returned home at midnight on Sunday, August 17th, with only her leash and collar. While I am so relieved that she is in their care, I am still so worried for her and nervous for the journey ahead. On top of that, I am struggling with how I will pay for her treatment.

The decision to make this GoFundMe was tough because I am not typically one to ask for help and I fully believe in working for what you get, but right now I am desperately seeking as much help as possible for my girl. I am still paying off her last emergency vet trip and I used everything I had left to pay the deposit for her to be hospitalized tonight. I have attached the itemized receipts for her current hospital bills for anyone interested. The full estimate I was given for MSU was $7,500. The receipt reflects the payments I made towards that amount with a credit of $3,384.82 still owed. I am anticipating more bills as they move forward with her treatment and I will make sure to add updates as I get more information.

Nova is my entire world. She gives me purpose, she’s been the most consistent thing in my life for the past 4 years, and as silly as it sounds, she has been there for me in ways no person could be. She’s my rock through tough times and I am absolutely distraught here without her. I just want her to get the care she needs so she can come home healthy.
