Last year, we had a family member confuse my mom, who has dementia, into signing a durable power of attorney. This cousin of hers lives in Colorado. She tried to do it in 2022, but I was able to get out from under it and resolve things. However, what I didn't know is she took money from our family's IRAs and put my mom on a waiting list for a senior living facility that this woman had only been to once. She sold the house my father built in 1988, leaving me homeless and my mom in a facility she is incredibly unhappy in.
I recently was in the hospital for 5 days for a kidney stone that had to be sonically broken up. When I came home, I still had a couple of pieces of the kidney stone that had to be passed, which kept me from working. I have bills stacked up to a crazy amount. I am stuck living at a homeless shelter. I owe my car insurance, my phone bill, rent at the homeless shelter, and bills because I was in school. When all this happened, I had to drop classes, and now I have to make payments to get my Pell Grant money paid back so I can return to school. I have the ability to make about $80 a day, but with my health problems like the kidney stone and basically being down for 10 days, it threw my card's balance protection off, so I had to pay all the balance protection back. I'm at risk of having my car repossessed, and I am a Lyft driver, so without the car, I can't continue working. I have worked in the behavioral health technician field helping people and saving lives, and would like to get back into that, but it paid just so little at the facility I was at that driving Lyft made way more money. At this point, I really don't know what to do.
The woman who took all of our resources away from us and sold the house my father built in 1988 lives in Colorado. My mom is in independent living, and the only thing stopping her from being in assisted living, which would double the price of rent and she'd be locked down, is me being here and taking care of her. I am financially needing help so that I can get back on top of my bills, hopefully pay off my bills for school so I can start school again and receive Pell grants. I graduated with a 4.0 in May of 2023, and everything is just falling apart and getting worse. I really need some financial assistance so that I can get back on top of everything. I'm even so far behind that the rent I have to pay at this transitional living place is at risk of making me homeless. Things are very dire right now; I very much need help. Any amount you can give, even super small amounts, will go to something, whether it be gas, my insurance, my car payment, or my rent.
I am grateful for anyone who is going to help me, big or small. I am just in a situation where I do not see how I'm going to get out of it. I have pawned everything of value to me, and I want to get those things out of pawn, but I have so many other things that need to be paid for that those are on the back burner.
