Hey guys,

I recently stated at the beginning of summer that I was taking a break from rescuing for 2025. A few days ago, I was asked to help out a horse in really bad shape, and that ended in a total of 4 horses being removed from the property they were on. The initial horse had to be euthanized the same day I picked him up due to suffocation and slowly dying from severe dehydration. His throat had become paralyzed, and he could no longer swallow water, food, or his own saliva. He had been without water for 3+ days in our 100-degree heat and was already emaciated before that. He was recently gelded and had maggots and fly larvae in his castration site, pus coming out of his eyes, and his gums were purple due to not being able to get enough oxygen in his system. It was awful.

The next day, the owner agreed to release 3 other horses that were on the property. One is an emaciated OTTB gelding that they had had for 10 months who has an infected puncture in his leg, one is an emaciated Arabian gelding that they got at the beginning of May, and one was an OTTB that they just got at the beginning of July.

Taking on 4 horses, their vet bills, farrier, feed, and care was completely unexpected, but after the condition that the first horse was in, I couldn't say no to the other 3. Euthanizing the first horse was $500, and now the other 3 need care until they can find homes. I had not planned to do this at all, and I am currently rehabbing a starvation case completely unassociated with these horses, so this is a large financial undertaking for me. I am asking for help in caring for these guys as we rehab them and get them back into good health. I appreciate any support you can give, be that financially, kind words, prayers, or good thoughts.
