Aid needed for Pops and his family in this crucial time.
Donation protected
2/12/25 We received news that "Pops," our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and community tribal member, attempted to take his own life. Our dad has been struggling with mental health and dementia, which has recently dramatically increased. Currently, Pops is receiving one-on-one care and will be life-flighted to Portland ASAP. We are asking for funds to allow for immediate travel for his children and grandchildren, in addition to any medical expenses that occur during his stay in addition to discharge.
Our dad, Mike, has been such a pillar in our family. Not only did he raise his own children, but he has also been pivotal in raising stepchildren and grandchildren. He is a U.S. Army veteran, retired logger, and worked for the Klamath Tribes until his condition would not allow him to work any longer. He is an active tribal member and was always willing to give the shirt off his back if he could.
I would like to thank everyone in advance on behalf of the family that is able to help.
☆☆☆update☆☆☆
4/17 Pops has been discharged home!!! He has been sent home with a peg tube, meaning that is how primarily being fed. He is able to take in clear liquids. He has also been sent home with a PICC LINE to deliver his antibiotics to treat an infection in his brain from a bullet fragment until May, which requires daily travel 30 miles one way. He has only been approved for 42 hours of a caregiver from the state every 2 weeks. He is required to travel 30 minutes EVERY day one way to refill his pump for antibiotics. He is able to speak, however, it is extremely difficult as his jaw was shattered then reconstructed, along with missing teeth now and he has lost most of his ability to swallow. Cate for Pops will be a long road.
Beyond finances, if you are local and know Pops, please just visit him and let him feel the support. That means so much more than the monetary aspect.
