Aid Needed for Healing After Surgery

Donation protected
On May 23rd I underwent the start of my bottom surgery. (orchiectomy with SIU surgeon named Dr. Maria Monn) The Hospital that the surgery was performed at was Springfield Memorial Hospital. The surgeon was referred to me from the main hospital in the city nearest me to complete the first step - (RUSH in Chicago) as she was the top in reconstructive urology. After being released day off after surgery, I began to feel something was wrong. I called for support on May 24th and was told I was “abusive” asking for help and pain management. I was refused care by the on call urologist at the hospital in my town (they were with SIU that practices at Springfield Memorial) and was sent to another local Catholic hospital (HSHS). There they noticed my white blood cell count was high but felt it might have been because it was a day after surgery. I then got an appointment for the follow Friday, May 30 with the nurse of the surgeon. The surgeon was refusing to see me. When the nurse saw me, she didn’t even put on gloves and told me the growing spot on my left incision was not an infection. She simply looked at it and said I was good to go. Once it was June 1st, I knew something was terrible wrong - I was fainting, waking up with a 100 to 102 degree temperature. I progressively got sicker, sent pictures to my surgeon and staff related to the case. No response. The surgeons nurse did call me late on the 4th after telling me via a patient portal app that everything still looked fine - and then dismissed my worries. Finally with a 105 degree temperature, on June 4th I was taken to the ER. This is when we learned I had contracted MRSA from improper medical preparedness in the surgical room. While at my 10 days hospital stay at Springfield Memorial, the surgeon continued to not visit or speak to me who performed the surgery. I’m forever grateful to the staff from both SIU and Springfield Memorial that stepped up to assist me. I was hospitalized for 10 days and then released. I am behind on bills, expenses, personal needs and hygienes. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be unable to work due to this. I currently have a home nurse provided by the hospital (Springfield Memorial) that saved me, coming twice a week. This has been the scariest medical experience of my life. Thank you to all those that can help.
