Hello, my name is Cynthia (Cianne) McGinnis. On October 8th, my little mobile home in Hanford was completely destroyed in a fire. Thankfully, I wasn’t home, but I lost nearly EVERYTHING and none of that can be replaced, but I’m now facing the challenge of rebuilding my life from scratch at 75 years old and with physical limitations. I’m asking for any support possible to cover at least temporary but preferably permanent housing, as I have not been able to find a place to live that I can afford, and I'm pretty certain that any of you would be appalled at the very few I've been shown, and even they still have requirements that I can't fill, such as needing to provide proof of income that is 2-3 times the monthly rent amount to even apply, and my social security check does not meet that requirement. They will also not accept space rent on a mobile home as proof of one year of paying your rent on time for the last year! So, I've been staying in budget motels, and that is really adding up. I’m preferably trying to find a mother-in-law quarters behind someone’s home or a tiny home or small 1-bedroom apartment, or studio in Bakersfield, as I have already moved back here. If any of you know ANYONE or ANYWHERE with availability of anything like that, I’d appreciate being notified. Please ask your friends, and family members and church groups and other organizations you belong to, as you never know who might have something right now that they're advertising or preparing to advertise that you are currently unaware of, that you can share this with. So PLEASE do that if you can? Any contribution, information or help with funding, large or small, will make a huge difference in helping me to find permanent housing. Your donations will go directly to me to help me get back on my feet. I've already been making inquiries and am finding the waiting lists are very long, and the processes difficult as they need to be taken care of at many different locations all around the city, all with extensive lists and waiting times = lots of gas money!!!
I’m reaching out, especially to my schoolmates from our Lady of Guadalupe grammar school, and from Garces Memorial high school, my Red Hat Society sisters, and the HERC homeschooling families, whose teenagers I taught dance lessons to for seven years. If I enriched your lives in any way I’m asking for your compassion and help now. That help can consist of recommendations for housing and also any senior advocates you may be aware of. Thank you for your kindness and support.
I'm attempting to find doctors here in Bakersfield, and have located a primary care physician by recommendations of some of you already (thank you!) But since I've also been under the care of a Neurologist, an Orthopedic Surgeon, a Cardiac and Vein Specialist, and an Oncologist, and they are all out of town, and I can’t drive long distances due to my neck and back injuries - I would also have to PAY for transportation to those appointments. Oh, and also an Ophthalmologist, as I have a "wonky" right eye per my Optometrist, which makes driving, especially at night, nearly impossible as I can't read street signs AT ALL.
Thank you very, very much, and God bless you all! ❤️❤️
They tell me I need to set a realistic fundraising goal, but I have no idea what it will take, so I’m only asking for $10,000 at this time, because I certainly don’t want to appear greedy. Thank you all from the bottom of heart for anything at all you can do to help me.
Thank you very, very much, and God bless you all! ❤️❤️
