Aid Needed for Displaced Family's Recovery

Donation protected
I am doing this fundraiser for my brother Aaron and his wife Christina who recently lost their home and most of the furniture and fixtures inside of it to Hurricane Helene.

Here is their story..... Aaron and Christina sold their home in Kirkville in July of this year to make the move to Florida for a new start in life. When they arrived they purchased a patio home in the New Port Richey area. Within a few weeks they both had found new jobs and were beginning to make a home there.

8 weeks later they were evacuated from their home due to the threat of Hurricane Helene coming through. They spoke with their neighbors who assured them that everything would be ok, they in the past had gone through hurricanes and the water would come up close to the house but the water has never come into homes there.

Well 24 hours later the water did indeed come into their home. and not just a little. There home had 14" of salt water inside.
This got into all their electrical outlets and the main breaker box is destroyed. It has ruined all their appliances including their HVAC system. Their couch, chairs, tables, rugs, and anything else that sat 14" on the floor is ruined.

There is no power to the house and therefore in the Florida Heat and Humidity the MOLD has started to grow, the smell is a smell you have never experienced before, and devastation has set in.

The reality is they are homeless and have nothing but their clothes and their kitchen dishes.

Regular Insurance doesn't cover flooding and with devastation like this would only have paid out minimum amounts. So They turn to FEMA for assistance. A FEDERAL program designed to help Citizens of the country. Well they have been denied any assistance from FEMA due to the fact that they have not established residency in Florida. More specifically that they haven't lived there for atleast 6 months. Well they have lived in this country their WHOLE life and have paid TAXES for 30 years!

The reality again is they are homeless with no money to put into the home they just purchased. The damage is estimated over $20,000 and that is with Aaron doing the majority of the work himself. They can't get the power back on until the electrical is repaired and that will be approx. $3500 and Aaron is not qualified to do that work. After that a new HVAC system will need to be installed immediately and that will be around $6000. Then Aaron could get in their to gut the place and begin to restore it.

The reality again is they are homeless and will probably end up with a total loss and moving back north where family is here to help them recover.

Pictures here do not even show the big issues, but the black and whites are shots from the Ring camera and you can see the house is surrounded by water.

I am hoping for enough donations here to either get them the money to rebuild their home in Florida or to have money to put down on a new place here in New York.

Please help if you can!
