Mike's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
This is my Dad, Mike. He was in a terrible car accident when I was about 5 years old on his way home from a graveyard shift at work, and has been disabled ever since. He uses a mobility scooter most of the time to get around, as his left arm and leg have permanent nerve damage from the accident. He is the happiest person you'll meet, always has a positive attitude and a smile, despite the unfortunate injuries and hardships he's experienced in his life. He is a man of God and always says that the big man upstairs has a plan for everyone, even if we don't always understand it.
Recently, he had a part break on his mobility scooter that he uses daily, which required bringing it in for repair and getting a loaner scooter for the duration of the repair. After arriving home on the loaner scooter, he had an accident while driving down the ramp of his van and fell forward out of the scooter, hitting his head and breaking his tibia- requiring an ambulance trip to the ER and extended hospital stay. He is progressing very well in his recovery, but unfortunately after getting back his actual scooter from repair another different part broke on the scooter during his recovery. This specific repair will cost $4,000, along with requiring him to use a manual wheelchair to get around at the nursing home he's receiving care at while he heals. As you can imagine, a surprise bill this size while on a fixed income, is not an easy one to stomach. I am hoping to raise some money to help my parents with the cost of the repair to hopefully lessen the financial blow of the bills that are about to start piling up from this accident. Any amount of support helps immensely, and if unable to help monetarily, I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who can share this post to help us reach this goal- and ultimately give back to my Dad who's given so much to me throughout his life. Thank you and God Bless!
