Help Aid Murphy’s family after Stroke & Death

UPDATE: My Dad passed away at 12:49pm on April 24, 2025

UPDATE: thank you to everyone that contributed but I’m tired of the nasty energy that I feel my father did not beg and neither will I. I am a hard-working woman and I know that God will make away to the ones that are judging you should get your life right with God this was a test for you and you failed it so it will come back around again and it’ll continue to come back around until you get it right!

Again to the ones that contributed, I really appreciate it. This will go towards getting my dad’s final expenses, taken care of and his home cleaned out may God bless you and keep you all!

Hi, my name is Yolanda Crockett, and I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my father, Murphy Crockett, a proud U.S. Air Force veteran. On April 8, my dad suffered a massive stroke. The doctors have given him only a few days to live, and while we are holding on to hope and prayer, the reality has been heartbreaking. This happened so suddenly, and like many families, we weren’t prepared emotionally or financially. My mother, Babylin Crockett, and my brother, Murphy Montgomery, have been helping in every way they can, and together we’re doing our best — but the weight of this situation is more than we can carry alone.

My dad was an orphan who went on to live a full and meaningful life, serving honorably in the United States Air Force. He was known by many as a giver, a lover, and someone who always put others before himself. In 2015, he suffered a massive stroke that affected the entire left side of his body. But in true Murphy Crockett fashion, he fought through it. He regained his independence, lived in his own home, cared for his dog, and walked with a quad cane. He was one of the strongest and most resilient men I’ve ever known. He overcame that stroke with faith and determination. Sadly, this time, we are not as fortunate.

He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness who loved God deeply. He and I were both in the adoption system(my dad was never adopted), and our family is very small, which makes this time even more difficult. Being two states away from him has been incredibly painful, especially knowing that time may be limited(I spent the last of my money to be bedside with him from April 9 until April 19)

My dad meant the world to me. Even though we didn’t get to spend as much time together because of his time in the system, he still showed up for me in all the ways that mattered. He gave me priceless advice, supported me emotionally, and was always my biggest cheerleader. Losing him has completely shattered me — the grief is overwhelming, and the financial strain only makes it harder. I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above water. But I trust in God’s faithfulness, and I know He will carry me through this.

All donations will go directly toward covering burial expenses, travel costs to get to Texas and clean out my father’s home, and care for his beloved dog, whom I’ve already brought back with me to Colorado. My dad had tried to maintain life insurance, but living on a fixed income, his policy unfortunately lapsed. I know he didn’t want me to worry—maybe it was his veteran’s pride—but it means so much to me that he even tried to get life insurance, knowing he couldn’t afford it(effects of the first stroke). This situation has placed an enormous strain on my life. As a single mother of four, I simply wasn’t financially prepared for something so sudden.

We are now facing urgent needs — travel expenses(I wish I could be bedside with my father as he takes his last breath! I don’t want him to feel alone like he has been his whole entire life. I want him to know that I’m there for him), medical bills, and possibly funeral arrangements. If you’re able to contribute, any amount would be a blessing. And if you can’t give, please consider sharing this fundraiser. From the bottom of my hearts, thank you for your prayers, support, and love during this incredibly difficult time.
